Le compteur projette les dépenses militaires mondiales totales de cette année à partir des derniers chiffres réels de SIPRI multipliés par le taux de croissance moyen sur 5 ans, puis défile en temps réel comme une fraction de ce total annuel selon les secondes écoulées depuis le 1er janvier.
Chaque alternative humanitaire est calculée à partir de sources faisant autorité (OMS, Banque mondiale, UNICEF, Gavi, UN OCHA, UNESCO, IRENA, FAO). Les coûts unitaires et les citations figurent dans le panneau « voir les sources » de chaque catégorie.
